# Concept Explainer

The Concept Explainer Builder instantly rewrites highlighted text into a rich explanation, concise summary, or formal derivation at the depth you choose—no manual drafting required.

The Concept Explainer Builder is a one-click authoring tool that transforms any lesson excerpt into a polished insight card. Simply highlight content in **Lesson Preview**, refine or replace the prompt if needed. The builder generates fully styled HTML that appears as a floating **Viz Card** in your document. Explanations provide step-by-step reasoning with inline math and call-outs, Summaries distill key takeaways into 1–2 crisp paragraphs, and Derivations lay out formal proofs or algebraic walks in ordered steps. You can reopen the card at any time via **Visual Editing** to adjust depth, change the insight type, or iterate wording—making it effortless to deliver exactly the level of conceptual clarity your learners need.

### Workflow

1. **Select a course and lesson** in the sidebar.
2. **Highlight lesson content** with the mouse\
   → the **Concept Explainer** modal appears.

3. (Optional) **Refine the highlighted text** or write a custom prompt describing what you’d like explained.
4. **Complete the form**:
   * **Insight Name** – a memorable title for the insight card.
   * **Insight Type** – choose *Explanation*, *Summary*, or *Derivation*.
   * **Word Count** – drag the slider (400 – 8000 words) to set the depth.
5. Click **Create**. A floating **Viz Card** containing the generated HTML appears in the document. Reopen any time to re-prompt or edit via [**Visual Editing**](/mindengage-docs/common-dialog-boxes/visual-editing.md).
